City Statement: Tevez Is A Doo-Doo Head!!

Late on today Manchester City released a statement regarding wantaway striker Carlos Tevez. It was thought that there would be a statement regarding the Argentinian when he arrived back in the UK toward the end of his two weeks suspension.

The statement read that 'the club has now reached a stage in its investigation where it has concluded that there is a case for Carlos Tevez to answer of alleged breaches of contract'. After the club had initially backed Mancini after the incident at the Allianz Arena there was then a distancing of the club and the media while the investigation was conducted, raising more questions than answers from fans and pundits alike.

Tevez wil be required to report to Mancini on Thursday for training and with the media spotlight firmly on the two it will be interesting how that training session is handled. Mancini for his part has gone on record as saying that Tevez was done at the club and, although that may stil end up being the case, I am sure he would rather not have the distraction ahead of the game against Villa at the weekend.

The incident on the Tuesday night in Munich caused Tevez to recieve a complete backlash and condemnation from all corners. Pundits and other Premiership managers were united in their backing of Mancini and even the UEFA body got involved suggesting that if City could prove it to a satisfactory level they may even be able to step in to ban him in Europe.

The PFA Chairman, Gordon Taylor has said that Manchester City have handled the matter in the correct way and it is expected that Tevez will now face a disciplinary hearing, most likely to be held tomorrow or Friday. With that City can move to draw a line underneath this particular saga and although the transfer window doesn't open until January they could still terminate his contract or suspension without pay which could range from two to possibly six weeks. For this they would have to have the PFA approval, which reading between the lines of Gordon Taylors comments, they will have no trouble getting.
That would take them until early December without having to pay Tevez a dime with the hope of moving him on in the New Year.
