Best Premiership City Starts In The EPL!

After the Carlos Tevez one man protest on Tuesday it was certainly nice to see just how City rebounded. Mancini guided Manchester City to their sixth win from seven which keeps them joint top and just the single goal behind rivals Manchester United.
Now the players go off to their respective National teams as club football goes on the back burner. Again this International break has come at the wrong time results wise, with City having started so well but maybe at the right time as far as the backroom decision that have to be made are concerned.

So with the break upcoming I thought I would take this opportunity to see just how good this start has been for City. Below, in order, are the results (Dated October 14th for each year).

                     Pld W D L F A Diff Pts
11/12 Mancini 7 6 1 0 23 5 18 19
7/8          SGE 9 6 1 2 17 8 9 19
9/10    Hughes 7 5 1 1 15 8 7 16
10/11 Mancini 7 4 2 1 8 3 5 14
5/6       Pearce 8 4 2 2 9 6 3 14
3/4      Keegan 8 3 3 2 14 9 5 12
94/95 Horton 9 3 3 3 14 13 1 12
93/94 Reid/Hort 10 3 3 4 10 9 1 12
92/93 Reid   11 3 3 5 13 13 0 12
8/9 Hughes 7 3 0 4 18 12 6 9
4/5 Keegan 8 2 2 4 8 7 1 8
6/7 Pearce 7 2 2 3 6 9 -3 8
00/01 Royle 8 2 2 4 10 14 -4 8
2/3 Keegan 9 2 2 5 7 14 -7 8
95/96 Ball 8 0 1 7 3 14 -11 1

Obviously this is just going back to the start of the Premiership, if not I would be here all day! Surprise that Alan Ball is bottom by a pretty good margin without recording a single victory in the opening eight games. In fact they wouldn't get their first win until November and, no surprise, were eventually relegated.
As you can see Mancini's starting runs both appear in the top four, with the current run joint top with Svens only season. Although Sven had two more games he still takes second place to Mancini on goal difference. Certainly it will be interesting to see if Mancini can keep up this momentum for the duration of the season, rather than the drop that SGE went through from November onwards.
