Fulham (A) Preview

So it is the day we find out exactly how Manchester City will deal with their European hangovers as City travel to Craven Cottage to take on a Fulham side looking for their first win. Last season this fixture resulted in a 4-1 win to the Blues with Tevez getting a brace and Zab and Yaya getting one each, that however was in November after an eight day break. In fact you have to go back to November 5th 2005 before you get a Fulham victory in this fixture. Over the course of the league meetings between the two clubs City have won twenty three times and lost fifteen times. In fact the next goal that City score will be the 100th for them in the head to head, and bets are they will and some.

City will be without DeJong and Miner for the trip to London but Kolarov should be ok after his broken nose in the Champions League game on Wednesday. This season City have been on fire, second only to United this far winning all their games to date and notching up an insane amount of goals. If Mancinis men keep their heads, with United playing Chelsea also it would be an ideal time for City to go top and be pace setters.

With City though I am always reminded of Tom Hanks' mother in Forrest Gump, City are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! Fulham, despite their current league record, are no pushovers and would certainly be up for a challenge. The downside for Martin Jol's side is they are also in European competition and played Thursday against FC Twente, a journey that started with qualifiers at the end of June. This game always produces goals both here and at Etihad Stadium and with City's flying start you would be a fool to bet on a 0-0 here (The last time that happened was March 2004 at City).

The biggest question going into the game is who will start for City. Dzeko and Aguero have twelve goals between them but both started midweek and so at least one may be rested.

Predicted Starting Lineup: Hart, Richards, Kompany, (K) Toure, Clichy, Barry, Toure(Y), Nasri, Silva, Tevez and Dzeko.
